The water control and flow limiting project for sponge city storage tanks and underground pipe networks realizes refined rainwater management mainly relying on pipe network flow limiting valves, storage tank hoist gates and water control facilities. Underground pipe network flow limiting devices restrict the velocity and flow rate of rainwater discharge to prevent pipe network blockage and road ponding triggered by short-term heavy rainfall. The storage tank gates are opened and closed on demand to collect surplus rainwater in staggered peaks and temporarily retain runoff volume. After rainfall subsides, the stored water is discharged in an orderly manner for reuse. This project effectively improves the urban capacity of rainwater regulation, peak clipping and flood drainage, realizes resource utilization of rainwater, and optimizes the urban sponge-based flood prevention and waterlogging control system.
